MACON COUNTY, Ga. — A firefighter is in critical condition after being struck by a fire hose this weekend.
Darrell Plank, 29, lost consciousness when he was hit in the head by a metal coupling as a fire hose snagged on the truck, according to Fire Chief Micah Kauffman.
The Telegraph reported that Plank was rushed to the hospital, where he remains in critical, but stable condition.
The father of five had a CT scan that revealed Plank suffered a stroke on the left side of his brain.
“We are certainly holding out hope,” Chief Kauffman said. “We certainly are a community of faith and I think that sets our department apart a little. We’re not counting out a miracle.”
Plank is a 10-year veteran of the fire department.
