HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. — Two Miss. children remain in critical condition after being badly burned in a fire pit explosion.
The Harrison County children, an 8-year-old girl and 12-year-old boy were near a fire pit outside their family’s home when their father went inside and heard an explosion; he returned to find his children burned, according to the Sun Herald.
The children’s parents took them to the hospital where they were later airlifted to an out-of-state burn center over the weekend.
County Fire Marshal Pat Sullivan thinks that there may have been an old can of gas near the fire pit, setting of the explosion.
