SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. — Spalding County firefighters were alerted to smoke in their firehouse and discovered their ladder truck was burning.
Firefighters inside Station 6 were alerted just before 3 a.m. on Feb. 10 to the odor of smoke inside the firehouse, 11Alive reported. Neighboring firefighters responded to the fire.
The Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office determined the cause of the fire was a malfunction inside the ladder truck.
County officials are working to restore the damaged firehouse, replace the ladder truck and address fire department coverage in the area.
