MINOT, N.D. — Kelli Flermoen, a fire battalion chief in Grand Forks, has been named Minot’s next fire chief. She will assume the duties Jan. 4, once current chief CJ Craven retires.

“I feel they are a good, solid department and have had great leadership,” Flermoen said of the Minot department.

She has been acquainted with the Minot Fire Department through working with local leadership as part of a regional response team in hazardous materials and technical rescue. From that collaboration, she has detected many similarities in the two departments in size, growth and structure. She had joined the Grand Forks Department prior to the 1997 flood in that community and brings knowledge of recovery and growth after a disaster to Minot.
