Ala. paramedic killed in ambulance crash, fire

A bystander saw the Pilcher’s ambulance and got the EMS providers out, but paramedic and retired firefighter Don Parrish did not survive

PIKE COUNTY, Ala. — A Pilcher’s Ambulance EMS provider is dead and several other people are injured after an ambulance left the road, hit a tree and caught fire Thursday, according to the Troy Messenger.

The victim, Paramedic Don Parrish, was retired from the Dothan Fire Department, according to Chief Larry Williams.

A good Samaritan witnessed the crash and removed the EMS providers from the ambulance.

The patient being transported was injured.

A second EMS provider was transported to a hospital, according to WSFA.

The bystander who stopped to help was injured during the rescue and was transported to a burn center.

The fatal crash is being investigated.

Also, please continue to pray for the other Pilcher medic, the patient that was being transferred, and the bystanders injured during the rescue,” Williams posted on Facebook.
