WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin contacted the family of fallen Sterling Firefighter Trevor Brown, offering their sympathies.

Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Representative Kristen Umstattd said both Youngkin and Biden spoke to the family over the phone and Biden invited them to visit the White House, WJLA reported.

Brown was killed during an investigation on Feb. 16, when a 500-gallon underground propane tank exploded. Ten other firefighters and two civilians were injured.

Brown had been with the department since 2016. He is survived by his wife and three children.

“He was dedicated to the cause, dedicated to the community and to serving others,” Sterling Volunteer Fire Chief David Short said. “The fire department is just one way he could do that.”

Brown’s funeral will be held on March 4 at Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg.
