WALDORF, Md. — A Waldorf Firefighter is lucky to be alive after a diesel tank explosion surrounded the 23-year-old in flames early Tuesday morning.
It started as a barn fire in Charlotte Hall, Charles County, Md. “I was flowing water on the tank and actually I stopped flowing water for about three seconds,” said Allen Bizzell, who told WUSA 9 that’s all it took for the explosion to happen.
Bizzell said he was maybe 10-15 feet away and had just stopped the hose for a few seconds to call for assistance. The explosion knocked him over. “I didn’t see the explosion. I just saw bright red everything,” said Bizzell.
