LAS VEGAS — The U.S. Air Force’s Thunderbirds performed a flyover across Las Vegas on Saturday in a tribute to first responders and healthcare personnel working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Air Force’s air demonstration team, which is headquartered at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, flew over 18 hospitals and medical facilities in the city working to combat the virus.
“We salute the healthcare workers and first responders who are at the forefront of our nation’s fight against COVID-19,” the Thunderbirds team said in a Twitter post. “They are an inspiration for the entire country during these challenging times and it was an honor to fly for them today.”
According to the latest report from the Southern Nevada Health District, which is tracking COVID-19 cases in Las Vegas and Clark County, there have been 2,258 cases across the county and 96 deaths as of April 10.
