WEST CHESTER, Ohio — A 32-year veteran firefighter died from occupational cancer Wednesday.
WLWT reported that Tim Burns’ death comes months after a state bill was passed compensating firefighters who contract work-related cancer. However, he was diagnosed before the passing of the bill and will not benefit from the new legislation.
Burns started his firefighting career alongside his father in New Burlington and has since worked in several towns, landing in the West Chester department in 1998.
He leaves behind his wife and twin 13-year-old sons.
