DEMOREST, Ga. — A firefighter in his early 20s died Sunday after being diagnosed with brain cancer on June 21, the Firefighter Cancer Support Network announced Monday.
“We knew it was coming, we just didn’t know it was coming with only a few hour’s notice,” said Demorest Assistant Fire Chief Jerry Palmer, who has been planning a funeral for Garrett Reiser.
Reiser served with the department for over five years, nowhabersham reported. He was known to be a hard worker with a positive attitude.
“I saw a side of the kid that was just unbelievable in the face of all this,” Palmer said. “He didn’t whine. He didn’t cry. He was a comfort to everybody else.”
