WINDSOR, Calif. — The pilot of a Cal Fire air tanker left a neighborhood covered in pink when he accidentally dropped fire retardant from the sky.
NBC San Diego reported that around 100 gallons of fire retardant dropped from the air tanker as it flew over a neighborhood, covering sidewalks and vehicles.
Resident Alex Cruz got to see the material up close.
“I came outside, everything was pink,” Cruz said. “I’ve never seen this before.”
Cal Fire crews cleaned up the fire retardant and said a pilot accidentally dropped it while returning from a fire and covered nine houses, 12 cars, a camper, landscaping and the street.
The fire department said the remaining material would dissipate over time. The incident is currently under investigation.
