JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department is now designated ISO Class 1.
The department is one of 140 departments across the county to earn the distinguished rating. Jacksonville is also the largest city in the nation to have the Class 1 level, according to Jacksonville.com.
The ISO helps insurers decide which communities are the safest for underwriting fire-risk policies. The status could lead to lower insurance premiums for commercial and residential property owners throughout the area.
