BAKEWELL, England — A Bakewell firefighter has been seriously injured after a fire engine crashed and rolled over while it was going to an emergency call-out.
The collision happened on the A6 road, between Taddington and Ashford-in-the-Water, about 8am on Tuesday, March 18, when it was responding to a call-out to an overturned Toyota Celica car.
The crew of four, from Bakewell station, had been travelling towards Taddington when the fire appliance left the road and rolled on to its side. The 47-year-old male driver was injured and had to be airlifted to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire by air ambulance. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service is providing support to the families of those involved and has launched an investigation into what happened.
