4 Conn. firefighters injured in crash

Hartford firefighters and one civilian were injured a crash in front of the firehouse

HARTFORD, Conn. — Several firefighters were among five people taken to the hospital following a crash in Hartford late Thursday involving a fire truck.

Emergency crews at 9:50 p.m. responded to a crash in the area 197 Main St. involving a civilian car and a fire truck, according to the Hartford Fire Department.

Four firefighters and a civilian were taken to the hospital after the crash. Fire officials said they were all conscious and alert at the time and reported injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The firefighters were later released from the hospital, according to fire officials. It was not immediately clear if the other individual was still in the hospital.

The southbound side of Main Street was closed in the area of the collision until both vehicles were towed.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hartford Police Department.
