National Junior Firefighter Scholarships Awarded at Firehouse Expo

WHAT: Retention and recruitment remain major challenges in the fire and emergency services. The NVFC’s National Junior Firefighter Program addresses these challenges by getting youth involved in their local departments at an early age, creating a lifelong connection to the emergency services and fostering the next generation of fire service leaders. As part of this initiative, the Dunkin’ Brands Community Foundation has sponsored $100,000 in scholarships and grants to outstanding junior firefighters and their departments nationwide.
The NVFC and Dunkin’ Brands Community Foundation will present the ten winning junior firefighters with $5,000 scholarships, as well as award a grant of $5,000 to each of their departments to help further their junior program. After the ceremony, there will be an opportunity to conduct interviews with scholarship and grant recipients. To schedule an interview with a junior firefighter or department representative, contact Kimberly Ettinger at kettinger@nvfc.org or 202-887-5700.
