FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — A firefighter from New York died Wednesday after suffering a medical episode following a call.
East Farmingdale Volunteer Firefighter Michael A. Cardinale Sr., 63, collapsed at the fire station after responding to a vehicle crash, according to Patch.
Cardinale was found unresponsive in the station’s sitting area by a colleague, who immediately began live-saving measures, the U.S. Fire Administration said. Cardinale was then transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Cardinale served as a volunteer firefighter for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, two children and three grandchildren.
