Summary of Job: Conduct comprehensive fire inspection services for Companys clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Travel to and perform on-site inspections to verify compliance with approved plans and regulations as adopted by the jurisdiction.
Interpret Federal, State, and Municipal fire protection codes, ordinances, and guidelines as to application to site and plans, and educate all parties involved in use of plans and or site construction
Compose field reports of corrective actions to architects, engineers, contractors and applicants, in order to remedy deficiencies noted in plan inspection and/or review.
Perform periodic and follow-up inspections of new and existing buildings, structures and installations.
Research problems, analyze various approaches and recommend solutions
Attend meetings and conduct on-site evaluations of buildings to ensure a minimum of fire and life safety compliance provisions are met
Through continuing education, maintain expertise in current code and advancement in technology, materials, and methods of fire and life safety protection.
Conduct hazardous materials inspections, issue hazardous materials permits and research technical resources concerning hazardous materials
Investigate complaints pertaining to violation of fire prevention laws
Maintain files of reports.

Job Requirements
|
Experience 5 yrs experience performing inspections, or fire plan reviews for a jurisdiciton or municipality
Additional Requirement :
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS
Minimum of five years experience performing inspections, or fire plans review, for a jurisdiction or municipality.
Certification as a Uniform Fire Code Inspector, issued by Western Fire Chiefs, ICBO or ICC, or;
Certification as a Fire Inspector II, issued by the ICC, or;
Certification as a Fire Plans Examiner, issued by NFPA, or;
Completion of California State Fire Prevention Officer Courses
CA Drivers License
REQURIED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong communication skills. Must be able to interpret Federal, State, and Municipal fire protection codes, ordinances, and guidelines to third parties.
Complex reading skills in order to interpret CA codes
Strong written skills in order to communicate to architects and engineers
Be able to work with minimum supervision
Ability to walk, crawl, climb ladders and be in confined space.
Require adequate vision to review plans, read documents and drive.
Critical decision making skills and advanced analytical skills.
General word processing and computer skills.
Ability to work and perform job duties on a regular and consistent basis.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Majority of time working alone.
Often working outside in all weather conditions.
Sometimes working in high places, noisy environments, dark areas.
Sometimes working at a desk.
